Regional Outreach Series

Series 4: A Framework for Action

The result of thousands of interactions with East Tennesseans is the emergence of four central themes that together form the heart of a regional vision:

  • Build strong towns
  • Grow quality places
  • Improve the health of our people and the environment
  • Expand choices for all

PlanET’s fourth round of input ran from May 28 through June 28, 2013 and included participation by over 450 people. Using a specially designed website, residents were asked to evaluate a set of goals and objectives that will serve as the framework for the development of an action plan. This plan will guide communities—and the region as a whole—as they seek to reach the vision for 2040.

Outreach Series 4 Results

Part 1: Rank Goals
Based on the input gathered from the previous rounds, eight regional goals were identified. From this list, participants were asked to identify the five goals that were most important to them. The chart shows how often each goal was selected in the top five:

Part 2: Identify Objectives
Next participants were asked to identify the best ways to reach each of the five goals they identified. In this step, a list of five objectives was presented for each goal. Residents selected their top three objectives and identified which of those was considered their favorite.
